How to get the right consistency

Color is not the best way to determine. I also triedwatching by soft/firm ball stage but still wasnt getting itright
Spend 5-9$ on a candy thermometer in your baking isle at almost any grocery store. Heat mixture to 250f or firm ball stage (expiriment 240-260, depending on personal preferance for texture. I like it past 250 so it takes a long time to melt, but it makes my fingers sore working it)
