I Have to Use Strips

I've made many batches and used a candy thermometer, but I still cannot get it to work cold without cloth strips. I finally gave up. I now heat the mixture to 255F and use cotton strips. It does work cold with the strips. I have used it on my bikini area and it works great. Just wish I was able to use it cold without cloth strips.

I was wondering, how badly does this hurt? Is it the same as waxing? If not than how badly does it hurt?
