Candid Thoughts On This Organic Product Line

Lord knows, they're not cheap!

And... like every line, not all of their products are winners.

This article draws from my personal experience to offer you some suggestions on which products are "must haves" and which you might not want to bother with.

The organic nature of the MiEssence products is what drew me to them. It was the first time I've received products that had an expiry date! I took that as a good sign.

The delivery was fast, although I did receive a surprise bill from UPS afterwards for duty charges... something to keep in mind.

MiEssence Review of Facial Cleansing Products

Chemical free skin care is exactly what I was looking for when I stumbled upon MiEssence products.

After much browsing of their site and reading of their product details, I finally settled on trying their Purifying Cleanser, Purifying Skin Conditioner, Purifying Blemish Gel, and Purifying Moisturizer.

See a bit of a theme? Yep, since entering my 30's, my skin has become more oily and I've tried many acne treatments for my ongoing blemishes. The MiEssence Purifying line does a great job of cleaning skin gently, without leaving that tight, over-dry feeling some oily skin cleansing products do.

All of the skin products were a treat to use. The cleanser is in a soothing cream form which could be mistaken for moisturizer. No soaps, no drying suds. The Blemish Gel is nice, just what those oily areas need after cleansing. And, the conditioner and moisturizer are just right. Not oily at all, which is rare, even for products formulated for oily skin.

All things considered, these products are great for everyday cleansing. They are NOT, however, effective as an acne treatment.

MiEssence Review of Hair Cleansing/Conditioning Products

Being a hair stylist, I couldn't resist a few hair products. So, I also tried their shampoo and conditioner and the Protect B5 Hair Repair. The latter is the only one worth a mention here. That's right, I'm a hair product snob. Actually I'm not, but I do have very high expectations.

Admittedly, the shampoo and conditioner contain some wonderful ingredients, and they would likely work well for someone with shorter (or not chemically treated) hair.

The shampoo is extremely clarifying, leaving hair in a "raw" state, which is fine, but that moisture needs to be replaced by a robust conditioning. Their conditioner, sadly doesn't cut the mustard in my opinion. The Protect B5 Hair Repair is the saving grace to this combination, making the hair combable and limiting static.

MiEssence Review of Mens Shaving Products

My husband tried their Shaving Gel and Aftershave Balm. Both eventually expired and were thrown out almost completely unused. Pity... that was about $50 down the drain. But he's an old fashioned "foamy" shave gel kinda guy and wasn't hip on the feel of the Aftershave Balm.

Obviously, it's a personal choice. If you prefer a foam to shave with, the Miessence shave products probably aren't your thing. However, if you like a slippery, cream-like shaving gel, you may love this line.

MiEssence Review of Toothpaste and Deodorant

These were two of my faves. Especially the deodorant! (Note to self: order more of that.) The dangers of anti-perspirant are cause for concern, in my opinion, BUT, finding a deodorant (rather than anti-perspirant which contains aluminum) that actually works is quite a challenge. I've tried many of the "natural" varieties and haven't found any that perform like the MiEssence (I went for the aroma-free).

The toothpaste was odd at first. The packaging is nice because you can see exactly what's inside. It's just a simple, white, pasty mixture. It's odd because the taste is so plain compared to the minty mainstream offerings. There's a moment of wonder whether it can possibly clean AND freshen. But, it does... in a gentle way.

The price is reasonable for both of these products considering how long they lasted me and how well they did their jobs!

Next To Try...

While writing this review, I got snooping around the MiEsssence site again and found a few more things to try. First and foremost is their Household Cleaning Pack - BioPure Concentrate & MiEnviron 500ml Bottle. It's a Probiotic cleaner! Good bacteria, just like we give our bodies. It's an exciting idea... can't wait to see how it works!
