Pull direction

You can apply the paste against the direction of the hair and then pull off with the direction of hair. (This is how sugaring should be done, without strips. It also hurts less this way.)

It takes some time to learn how to apply it right but keep trying!

I've read elsewhere about the various sugar stages and what stage you should heat your sugar mixture to. From what I read, you should heat this until the "hardball" stage. You may, however, be happy with heating it only to the "firm ball" stage.

A "cold water test" is handy if you're not a candy-maker. http://www.exploratorium.edu/cooking/candy/sugar-stages.html

Also, I have made this with vinegar in the past. It smelled very strongly like... well, vinegar. Not the most pleasant. Think of a large diffuser.
On a side note, it did work fine.

I'm a massage therapist working at a hair salon and do regular trades with our resident sugaring girl. she went to school at Alexandria in Canada and applies against hair growth to push the sugar deeper into the follicle and pull with the growth because it's less painful. Also I'm crazy O.C.D. about my body hair and using this method she can usually rip it out when there's as little as 1/8 of an inch.

It can be used by applying against the hair growth and flicking it the direction of growth.

They do teach courses on how to use the 'flick' method. It really does work.

It can be used like wax, as well, applied with hair growth then pulled against it. This may be easier but hurts a little more.

Actually this is incorrect. Sugar paste is normally applied in the direction of hair growth. It is then removed against-in the opposite direction. Some areas where the hair grows in different directions you may need to go over twice. Once one waythen the other.

I've done a Sugaring course and generally the method of application is in the same direction of hair growth, with both sugar strips/ball. The method of removal is against. For particulalry stubborn single or small patches of hair massage the ball in a little back n'forth then pull off. I
