Pulling against direction of hair growth?

I have read that sugaring should be done by applying against the direction of hair growth and pulling off with the direction of hair growth. Please clarify- your recipe/directions indicate it should be done like normal waxing. Thanks.

what direction to pull!

I worked at a professional hair removal studio and in my training through Alexandria Professionals they told us to mold the sugar on against the direction of hair growth and flick it off in the direction of hair growth. This causes less breakage and ingrown hairs. As far as ingrowns and waxing, wax can harbor bacteria and any kind of mishap like double dipping in the wax can cause contamination and a nasty growth of bacteria. This can cause bumps irritation, ingrown hairs and a whole mess of unwanted things so wax is just not good for you for a thousand reasons. Stick with sugar! Learn to mold it to your skin and flick less because of this. If you still get ingrowns ask around a hair removal salons for a product called PFB it is a miracle worker on ingrowns use it twice a day and say good by to irritation and bumps guranteed i use it every time i sugar - especially on my bikini line and underarms. Also if you don't exfoliate three times a week you will get ingrowns because the hair is thinner and not strong enough to come thru the layer of dead skin so this is very important to do as well. And then lastly moisturize this will help later on when you go to sugar a few days after the hair will come out alot easier! Hope this helps.

wax sugar pulling against hair growth ?
by: Anonymous

I had been going to a professional for some time with no problem She used sugar and it was great. I was having a brazilian done leaving a small patch. There were a few stay hairs close in that were missed and I tweezed them out. I developed a few ingrown hairs there. When I mentioned it to her on my next trip she said to never tweeze them. She didn't elaborate but I am begging to think it was the cause of the ingrown hairs being pulled out in the same direction as the growth. I think before I would test one leg in each direction I would investigate with a professional. I still have the bumps there and its been a few months. I went to a local shop and was waxed... I developed a few more bumps and she was goin in the direction of the growth.... so I need to get back downtown to the expensive place and stay with her. (probably has to do with the same theory as the ostrich skin cowboy boots.... full quill vs low quill.)

Try them!

It appears that there is a debate about the application and pull direction. (see comment above)
I think I'm going to try both methods, one on each leg, and see which one works best!
